Classify and prioritize your catalog with ABC analysis

How to check the ABC classification of your products by the revenue they generate.

Stockagile lets you classify your products by the revenue they generate with ABC analysis. This way you can prioritize your purchases, replenishments and transfers on the products that matter most to your business.

The analysis sorts your SKUs by sales during the analysis period and groups them into three codes: A, the ones that generate roughly the first 80% of revenue; B, the middle 15%; and C, the last 5%. For an overview of your stock, see also Inventory analysis.

Requirements to check the ABC analysis

  • The user must have the OWNER role. You can see the different roles in Create or edit a user.

  • The company must have the PLANNING module enabled. It cannot be enabled from the panel: contact the Stockagile team to enable it.

Steps to check the ABC analysis

  1. Go to the INVENTORY section from the side menu, under ANALYTICS.

  2. Click the ABC ANALYSIS tab, next to OVERVIEW.

  3. Check the “ABC analysis summary”, with one row per code, a final total row and the following columns:

    • ABC code: Group A, B or C.

    • Billed: Revenue generated by the SKUs of the code during the analysis period.

    • Billed %: Share of total revenue that the code represents.

    • SKU: Number of SKUs in the code.

    • SKU %: Share of all SKUs that the code represents.

    • Total sales: Units sold by the SKUs of the code during the analysis period.

    • Retail units sold: Units sold through retail channels.

    • Wholesale units sold: Units sold through wholesale channels.

When you finish, you will see how many SKUs make up each code and what share of revenue they generate, so you can decide which products to focus your inventory management on.

Keep in mind:

  • If the company does not have the PLANNING module enabled, the ABC ANALYSIS tab does not appear, even if the user has the role.

  • When the module is enabled, Stockagile processes the company data in the background, so the analysis may take a while to show content.

  • You can change the period the analysis is based on from CONFIGURATION, in the PLANNING section under LOGISTICS, with the “Analysis Period” field.

  • If your product or stock data is incomplete, the classification may be inaccurate.
