Editing products via Excel is done through the same standard product importer. This format allows for efficiently updating product information using either the product ID or the product code.
⚠️ Important: To use this option, the products must already exist in the system, as this method is exclusively for editing existing products, not for creating new ones.
Steps to follow:
- Go to the “Products” section, located in the “Catalog” module. Once inside, click on the “Import” button at the top right:
- You will be redirected to a complete history of all imports. At the top right click on the “New Import” button:
- A pop-up window will appear asking if you want to import or edit products. Click on "Edit existing products".
- A pop-up screen will open if you want to import products or edit variants, click on “Edit product”:
- Next you will have to choose the identifier with which you want to find the product for which you want to update information (Product Code or ID/identifier):
- The importer will open again, just like a "normal" product import, with the difference that you must have the information well-defined and ensure that the identifier you entered is correct and matches the one you selected.
Notes:
- The file to be imported should only include the column corresponding to the chosen identifier, along with the columns/fields you want to edit.
For example, if you want to edit the stock of the products and use their IDs as the identifier, the Excel file should only contain these two columns:
Column 1: IDs & Column 2: Name
- It is recommended to use the "Stock" report from the Analytics module to prepare the import file, as it provides the necessary identifiers to edit product variants via import.
Specifically, from the "Stock" report, you can obtain both the Product Codes and the IDs for each product.
- Finally, once the file is prepared and uploaded to the product importer/editor, you can proceed with the import as usual.
For any further questions, you can refer to the reports "Steps to import products via Excel" and "Common errors in product import".
