All products or services that are registered in the program can be categorized. These categories will allow you to facilitate the search for products and to filter in the reports and analytics.
The categories have the possibility to have subcategories, therefore to have a little more detail of the product. When creating a product, it is mandatory to select the category, the subcategory is optional.
Categories and subcategories are for internal company use from within Stockagile and each product can only have one category and subcategory, if what you are looking for is how to have multiple categories and subcategories in more than 2 levels for ecommerce, you will have to go to the section create categories for ecommerce.
Requirements to be able to create, edit and delete categories and subcategories:
- The user must have the role of OWNER, STORE MANAGER or WAREHOUSE MANAGER. You can see the different types of roles in the section Create or edit a user.
Steps to create a category:
- Go to the drop-down menu at the top right with the user name and click on the CONFIGURATION option.
- Enter the CATEGORIES section.
- In the list of categories, click on the NEW CATEGORY button located at the top center.
- Fill in the following pop-up data.
- Code: category code (e.g. initials, by numbers, etc.), used for abbreviation in reports.
- Name: the name of the category.
- Position: the position in which you want it to appear whenever you have a report, list or drop-down menu.
- Finally click the SAVE button located at the bottom right of the pop-up and you will see the category table refresh and the one you just created will appear. If there are many categories, depending on how they are ordered in the list, the new category may appear on another page of the list.
Requirements to create a subcategory:
- Subcategories are always linked to a category, since it is a more detailed category, so to create a subcategory you must have created a category before.
Steps to create a subcategory:
- Go to the drop-down menu at the top right with the user name and click on the CONFIGURATION option.
- Enter the CATEGORIES option.
- In the list of subcategories, click on the NEW SUBCATEGORY button located at the top right.
- Fill in the following pop-up data:
- Code: subcategory code (e.g. initials, by numbers, etc.), used for abbreviation in reports.
- Name: the name of the subcategory.
- Position: the position in which you want it to appear whenever you have a report, list or drop-down menu.
- Category: you must select the category to which it belongs, you can only select existing categories (if you had already selected a category before clicking on NEW SUBCATEGORY, it will be pre-selected).
- Finally click the SAVE button located at the bottom right of the pop-up and you will see the table of subcategories refresh and the one you just created will appear. If there are many subcategories, depending on how they are ordered in the list, the new subcategory may appear on another page of the list.
