Payment of a sale with multiple payment methods

From the SELL screen you can manage the collection of your sales using more than one payment method at a time. This is useful when, for example, a customer wants to pay part in cash and part by card.

Requirements to be able to make a sale:

Before making a sale, make sure you meet these requirements:

  • User role: you must have the Owner, Store Manager or Store Seller role. See the Create or edit a user article.

  • Products registered: the items you are going to sell must be created. Follow the steps from the Create a product article.

  • Cash register open: you need to have the cash register open. Check the Open the cash register article.

Steps to pay with multiple payment methods

  1. Create the sale. Add the products to the cart as usual. If you need help, see the Make a sale article.

  2. Access the payment screen. Once all products have been entered, click on one of these three buttons:

    • Pay: opens the payment screen without preselecting any method.

    • Pay by card: opens the payment screen with the total amount already entered in the card field.

    • Pay cash: opens the payment screen with the total amount already entered in the cash field.

  3. Check the available payment methods. On the payment screen you will see all the methods configured in your account. You can customize them from Payment Methods Settings.

  4. Split the payment. Distribute the amount among the payment methods the customer wants to use. For example, if the sale is €418.45, you can assign €318.45 to card and €100.00 to cash.

  5. Finalize the sale. Click on one of these options depending on the type of ticket you need:

    • Pay: finalizes the sale without printing any ticket.

    • Ticket: finalizes the sale and prints the cash register receipt.

    • Gift ticket: finalizes the sale, prints the cash register receipt and allows you to select the items to include in the gift ticket.

    • Eco Ticket: sends the ticket by email to the customer. Only available if the sale has an associated customer with an email address.

    • Eco Gift Ticket: sends the ticket by email and includes the gift ticket. Only available if the sale has an associated customer with an email address.

  6. Pending payment sale. If the total of the entered payment methods is less than the sale amount, the sale will be saved as pending payment.
