In this article, we will explain how you can connect your ticket printer to Stockagile via network, both in our web version and in the app. Please note that currently, it is only possible to connect EPSON printers to the network if they have the option to connect via WiFi or Ethernet cable.
Preliminary considerations
Before you begin, please consider the following:
- Not all EPSON printer models are compatible with Stockagile in its web version, depending on the device you are using. In the following table, you can check which operating systems and Stockagile versions are compatible with your printer model.
- You should also check that your printer has an Ethernet port or WiFi connection to connect it to the network, as within the same model there may be both USB and Ethernet versions. The port for the cash drawer is similar, as you can see in the following image.
- Your ticket printer must be connected to the same network as the device you will be using with Stockagile.
Connecting the printer with Stockagile App Version
1. Access the Stockagile app from your device. If you don't have it, you can download it for iOS and Android.
2. Once you have logged in with your credentials, go to the POS section of the menu.
3. If your cash register is closed, you will need to open it to access the "More" menu, which is located at the top right.
4. When you are in the "POS Actions" menu, access the "Select Printer" option.
5. Here you can select the ticket printer, which will then be saved.
Connecting the printer with Stockagile Web Version
1. Before starting the connection, you need to find out the IP address of the printer. In most printers, this is done as follows (if not, consult the manual): with the printer connected to the power but turned off, turn it on while pressing the "feed" button until a ticket is printed; this will show you the IP address.
If the IP address field is empty or with the value 255.255.255.255, reset the printer to factory settings or contact Support.
2. Next, follow the instructions in the following post to configure the browser to accept the connection:
https://support.stockagile.com/hc/en-150/articles/15470909724189-Configure-IP-device-with-Chrome
3. Once you have set up the browser, you can finalize the connection in Stockagile. To do this, access the program, click on the printer icon located at the top right, and select the "EPSON Printer" option.
4. A pop-up window will appear, where you must enter the printer's IP and its name. By default, EPSON printers come with the default name "local_printer". Finally, just click on Save and Connect, and if the connection is successful, you can print a verification ticket.
5. If the connection fails, it is possible that the printer's name is different. To find out the name, access the printer settings by entering the following URL in your browser: [printer's IP] (for example, http://192.168.0.95). It may ask you for a username and password. The username is always "epson" (lowercase), and the password can be the same as the username or the serial number of your printer, which you can find on a sticker on the back of the printer or on the box.
Next, access the ePOS-Print section, where you can view and change the printer's name in the Device ID field."
