Editing product variants using Excel is done through the same product importer as usual, but with the advantage that the file to be completed is much simpler and smaller. This format allows you to efficiently update the information associated with the variants, such as prices, barcodes, stock and other relevant product information.
Important: In order to use this option, products must already be created in the system, as this method is designed exclusively for editing variants of existing products, not for creating new ones.
Steps to follow:
- Go to the “Products” section, located in the “Catalog” module. Once inside, click on the “Import” button at the top right:
- You will be redirected to a complete history of all imports. At the top right click on the “New Import” button:
- A pop-up window will appear asking if you want to import or edit products. Click on "Edit existing products".
- A pop-up screen will open if you want to import products or edit variants, click on “Edit product variants”:
- Next you will have to choose the identifier with which you want to find the product variants for which you want to update information (ID/identifier, Barcode or SKU):
- The importer will open again, as if it were a “normal” product import, with the difference that you must have the information well defined and make sure that the identifier you have set is correct.
Notes:
- The file to be imported should be filled only with the column referring to the chosen identifier, plus those columns/fields you want to edit.
For example, if you want to edit the stock of the products and you want to use the SKU's of the variants as identifier, in the excel there should only be these two columns:
Column 1: SKU's & Column 2: Stocks
- It is recommended to use the “Inventory” report of the Analytical module, in order to prepare the file to be imported, having directly available the necessary identifiers to be able to edit the variants of the products via import.
Specifically, from the “Stocks” report, you can obtain both the barcodes of the products and the SKU's, as well as the unique ID/Identifier of each of them:
-
Finally, once the file has been prepared and attached in the importer/variant editor, you can proceed with the import normally.
